2022 FIFA World Cup: With a shortage of hotels in Qatar
The mightiest soccer event of all time, the FIFA World Cup, will be played in Qatar this year. Even before the event started, hundreds of controversies were created about it. The latest problem that Qatar is facing ahead of the World Cup is the shortage of hotels in Qatar for overseas FIFA spectators and other visitors. The tournament will be organized in the capital city, Doha, and will attract many soccer lovers from around the globe. But due to a shortage of homes, they are planning to stay in neighboring middle-east cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and some others.
The security and management of Dubai are also welcoming these football enthusiasts with open arms, and several safety and facilitating measures are taken for them. They are also ready to assist them in traveling during the match days. According to the director of the Dubai police, Abdullah Ali, it will be an honor to bring together people who speak different languages and have different cultures but same sports interests.
The management has set up some fan zones, which include some hotels and public football parks, and security in these will be the primary priority of the police department. The management is hopeful that the fans will have a peaceful and joyful month and that disturbances will be avoided. For this purpose, the security department is also distributing leaflets in public places.
On the other hand, Qatar’s World Cup organizer, Omar al-Jabar, stated that they arranged almost 1000 traditional tents for the sports fans. The overseas spectators will get a chance to experience the typical lifestyle of the desert. However, he has also assured us that the spectators will be facilitated with electricity, gas, a drainage system, and other modern necessities.
The tournament will take place in October this year, which will be the start of winter. So the visitors do not have to experience the extreme heat waves of the desert, as the temperature reaches 50 degrees in summers.
Two hundred of these tents will be placed on the beachside, while other locations are not announced yet. Omar also mentioned that over one hundred thousand rooms are available in the country for this sports event, but most are already booked by teams, management, press, and some spectators. The government has designed village communities, villas, cabins, and even two cruise ships for visitors. Construction of more hotels has also begun to meet the needs of sports fans. The management has also planned 160 flights with neighboring countries during the tournament to facilitate the traveling of fans.
Furthermore, the prices of hotel rooms have also increased because of this shortage, and it is making the situation much worse for football fans. According to a source, the price of a room with only one bed is around fifty thousand US Dollars in Qatar during the World Cup. The flight to Qatar has also become pretty expensive. A regular flight during World Cup time costs tens of thousands of US Dollars.
But the management is hopeful that everybody will find a place to stay in the country and enjoy the FIFA World Cup 2022 to its fullest.
